So, I have heard that intact males who are castrated with des not only smell better than surgically castrated hobs, but also don't lose as much muscle.
However, I've never heard anything specific, just "they lose a little but not as much as surgical castration".
Nancy, can you or anyone else give me an idea of what to expect? For example, with a large hob like Finn who is nearly 6 lbs in the winter, how much smaller would you expect him to be after des? Do you have any before and after stories you could share, like this certain hob weighed this much in the winter when he was intact, and he weighed this much next winter after he was implanted for a while?

With the younger hobs I honestly am not seeing anything different in their post implant weight and muscle. I have seen a delay with the males where they might , some don't , go through up to 6 months until they get to optimum weight. One of my older guys has lost some muscle but then he is 7 so it is probably more just normal aging. Keep in mind if you wait until he is at the end of a season then he will have less muscle naturally and it will take time for him to get back. One of my boys a year after implantation is 3 and looks better now than he ever has. It took about 6 months to see this.

SO this sounds almost to good to be true...
Sounds like we can get the benefits of the best of both...less seasonal smell AND a more natural growth?
Can anyone post a picture of their desi implanted male?
I Love Big Chunky Hobs...so I've wondered what they might look like with Desi instead of Neuter.
