As most know the Suprelorin implant was finally approved for sale in the U.S. this year , 2012. I finally had my veterinarian check into ordering more and as I had heard the price has doubled, at least for those of us that get in multiple orders. It used to be coming from Australia around $40 for the implant and $180 for shipping. If the vet got in 20 implants that came to around $50 per implant. They now are selling them in two packs for $200 or a pack of 5 for $450. Yikes! I"m thinking of all of the shelters with the adrenal kids needing many implants. This will probably stop some kids from getting this help due to cost. Very upsetting.

I agree. It seems as though the implant may be easier to get, but the cost is the same.

That's a real shame. I saw on the fhl that a Canadian had posted that Virbac in the US was interested in knowing if any vets in Canada would be interested in ordering from them. I personally haven't mentioned it to my vet for the main reason that the implant might end up costing more!

From what I've seen on a few other forums the going rate seems to average $150-180. Not what I was hoping, but I'm still hoping that at least I will be able to get it without having the vet refuse to go though the importation crap.

my old vet used to charge me $90 for the implant that was back in 2007 when i started using them to treat adrenal disease. In 2011 I think I paid $125.00 for an implant. this year (after the Virbac buyout) i paid $200 for the implant. i only use it once a year (using it for prevention on my early neuter Marshall Farms boy) but I hope it doesn't get any higher than that! Another vet in broward county charges $350.00 per implant which is ridiculous. crooks.
